Whom do you serve?

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. " Mathew 6:24

This scripture is one you have to dwell on for a while.  Ask yourself are you serving two masters?

We probably would be quick to say No Way!  Am only serving God.  But if we look deeply into our lives there is a possibility that we have carried on serving two masters.

We don't have time to pray, we don't have time to worship, we don't have to praise, we don't have time to study our bible, we don't have time to serve others, we don't have time to share the word of God.  We are just too busy Working.........serving Money.

May God give us the wisdom to know that we don't have to serve money (if you look at the back of a dollar bill it says "in God we trust" so even the dollar is serving God), as a matter of fact, money should serve US,  That way we will ONLY have time to serve one master and that is GOD.

***stop chasing and start chasing GOD.  In doing so money will begin to chase you****
***But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you*** Mathew 6:33

Holding your tongue.....

I have come to realise that alot of times we speak what's on our mind without screening it or taking the time to think about how it will affect the person on the other end.

It's important that we shouldn't be quick to respond when we are angry, holding your tongue is not a sign of weakness but a sign of wisdom.  It allows you to process your thoughts and analyze your response before delivering it.  The bible says "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Proverbs 15:1.  That tells us that we ought to strive to always give a gentle or soft answer.

Imagine responding to someone who just said something that pissed you off, the initial reaction is to blast the person but the bible says that "When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise."
Proverbs 10:19, the natural thing to do is to show your strength in anger and retaliating words but the Truth is your strength is in holding your tongue and taking a moment to relax and responding with a gentle answer.

May God give us the wisdom to learn how to hold our tongue, it shows we are wise.

Happy New Month!!!!!

Hi Everyone, We are now in the month of September.  Wow, that's 9 months, 244 days into the year 2011.

What are your expectations from God for this new month?

Choose not to be ignorant this new month, one of the ways the devil deceives us is through ignorance.
Let's choose to have knowledge and wisdom this new month.  The bible says "My people perish for lack of knowledge" Hosea 4:6....but this time around......"Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15.

The understanding of who you are in Christ makes you OUTSTANDING!!

May you begin to see a difference in your life today.  Start each day of this month studying a chapter in the book of Proverbs, let's continue in the Proverbs Project.

GOD BLESS!

KNOWLEDGE THE ROOT OF WISDOM

Ever wondered why sometimes the bible uses knowledge and wisdom interchangeably? Ever wondered why there are so many people who have knowlede but act so unwisely? Have you ever wondered why God made some teenagers kings over adults in the old? The answer to all these is simple.
Knowledge is the precursor to wisdom. Knowlegde is information given but the application of that knowledge is wisdom. Therefore, wisdom is the ability to apply knowlegde.

*Now tell me, if you haven't taken time to study, how in the world do you think you will be wise since wisdom is a product of knowlegde?*

Proverbs 19:2 says "Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good" wonder why it says so? The answer is simple, a soul without knowlegde is potentially a soul without wisdom. We must educate ourselves in the word of God so that we do not live as unwise.

There is one thing hurdle left to cross after acquiring knowldge. This is the ability to apply it which becomes wisdom like we saw earlier on. Ever wondered why you make the same mistakes over and over again? For example a young woman getting in and out of abusive relationships all the times, or a young man who is perpetually without a savings for the future though he has a job or why a married man/woman will commit adultery though he/she sees others been exposed on a daily basis? They all have a good knowledge about the situation they face but the ability to convert that knowledge into wisdom is lacking. Therefore, everytime they think they've figured a way out, they find themselves deeper in their mess than before.

The answer is simple. Proverbs 9:10"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom..." It is clear that knowledge alone does not get the job done unless the fear of the Lord comes into a person's heart. This fear comes only when there is a knowledge of Him. If you don't know Him, you can't fear Him. Did you notice it says "the begining" meaning as a person continues to grow in knowlegde wisdom will continue to grow.

This is possible at any age or level in life. This is the reason why God used teenagers in the old to be kings because they applied themselves to knowledge. Knowlege is a beautiful thing Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding".

What are you struggling with today? The solution is right here. If you will choose to know God and fear Him, wisdom will be accorded you for every situtation you are dealing with. Guess what? You are already half way to making it because all that you just read is the information(knowledge) you need. Now can you apply this knowldge to become wisdom for you. Don't stay in that situation one more minute because help is right here. Just ask God to put His fear in your heart and watch Him bring out wisdom in you.
God bless

God is working on our behalf...

There are times we go through things and we feel alone.  But we ought to always search the word of God and find encouragement in it.  For where the word of God is, God is there also.  The bible says in John 1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.".  He is his word, when you proclaim it in your life he will work wonders for you.

Read Nahum chapter 1 and be encouraged today.

Its a new day :-)
